State of the South Report1 | MDC

Read the Report MDC’s latest State of the South report, an update to the 2007 report on “Philanthropy as the South’s Passing Gear,” examines closely at how far the South has come toward building a region that offers economic opportunity to all its citizens, how far it still has to go, and how philanthropy can support systemic change that builds on past successes and addresses current needs. It opens with data and analysis of the region using disaggregated data on population, demographics, health, education, and more. It then explains the tenets of Passing Gear philanthropy, offers seven examples of funders across the region who are having success using Passing Gear practices to improve their communities, and features personal testimonials from philanthropic leaders about the rewards of their work.
