MDC in 2008, with support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, documented mistakes and lessons learned through a series of provocative papers focused on failures in community economic development.
The work led to a book, Mistakes to Success: Learning and Adapting When Things Go Wrong, and a set of tools that help practitioners analyze mistakes and reflect on changes needed to achieve better results.
As a follow-up to the Mistakes to Success publication and emerging practice, MDC engaged a set of community and economic development practitioners to test and document the effectiveness of a simple set of analytical tools and processes designed to help social sector leaders get started, build the habit, and build a learning culture within their organizations.
