Michael Altman

Michael Altman utilizes his passion for community organizing to aid MDC’s Rural Forward program as it helps various municipalities across the state solve a multitude of socioeconomic issues. Born in Youngsville, North Carolina, Michael’s upbringing in a small rural town gives him a unique perspective and skillset to use in the forwarding of MDC’s mission.

Since high school, he has been a part of various organizations and community initiatives that focus on helping at-risk youth along with racial injustices. He spent two-years at Wake Tech Community College in which he was a member of multiple academic honors societies and founded the institution’s first student-led progressive political organization. He is now a junior at North Carolina State University hoping to attain his B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Political Science. Michael is also involved in various labor union and human rights struggles across the Triangle.
