Courtney Alexander
Program Director
Waxhaw, NC
Courtney A. Alexander is passionate about supporting the development of children, families, and communities. As the program director for educational equity, she leads a team that identifies, amplifies, and connects home-based childcare providers, family, friends, and neighbors who provide childcare, home-based childcare networks, organizations, and coalitions toward a future where communities can thrive in an environment characterized by equitable and adequate opportunities for success. With a focus on the early childhood community, she leads two program managers who deliver support to the individual home-based childcare leaders and communities of practice to identify, define, and implement advocacy efforts to change systems that limit opportunity.
Courtney joined MDC in June 2024 as a program director. Prior to joining the team, Courtney worked as a childcare site manager and center director for summer camp, afterschool, early head start, NC-PreK, Meck Pre-K, and home-based childcare from 1993 to 2024. She is a member of The National Domestic Workers Alliance and affiliate We Dream in Black-Charlotte where she has advocated for fair wages and equity for domestic workers, who include childcare staff, nannies, au pairs, CNAs, and housekeepers. She graduated with a BA in English from UNC-Greensboro and a Master of Divinity from Hood Theological Seminary.
