State of the South webinar: Creating an equitable and inclusive system for Home Based Child Care
Join us for MDC’s next State of the South event, a webinar on Creating an equitable and inclusive system for Home Based Child Care: A Conversation on policy opportunities in North Carolina.
Home-based Child Care (HBCC), which includes both Licensed Family Child Care Homes and Family, Friend, & Neighbor care, plays a critical role in meeting the needs of children and families, and is one of the most widely utilized forms of childcare, particularly for infants and toddlers. HBCC is a prevalent form of care for Black and Latinx families, immigrant families, families working non-traditional hours, families with children with special needs, and families in rural communities. Despite its prevalence and integral role, HBCC providers do not receive equitable resources, support, or recognition from our early childhood system. Two recent reports from Stoney Associates and Child Care Resource Center examine North Carolina’s policy and regulatory system and highlight both the barriers for HBCC and the opportunities for our state to shift its policies and its narrative. Join us for a discussion as we explore the opportunities to create a more equitable and inclusive system for North Carolina’s HBCC providers and the families they serve.
This event will be virtual on Zoom and live-streamed on MDC’s Facebook page. This event will have Spanish Language Interpretation available for those who attend on Zoom. Register today and invite a friend or colleague!
