Where We Work

MDC is a national organization with roots in North Carolina and the American South. Founded in Chapel Hill, N.C., in 1967, a significant portion of MDC’s work is now spread across the United States.

Past work includes creation of the Indiana School Guidance and Counseling Leadership Project; creation and management of the Ford Foundation’s seven-year Rural Community College Initiative in 24 communities across the U.S.; co-lead partner of the FEMA Emergency Preparedness Demonstration in seven states and the District of Columbia; and managing partner of the nationwide Achieving the Dream initiative.

MDC’s current projects take our work from Los Angeles to New York and Minnesota to Miami. Here is a quick synopsis of our current programs and their locations:
